Duplicate Email Search The Duplicate Email Search, scheduled to launch in the 1st quarter of 2005, is the first-ever third-party validation technique for helping to ensure the respondent-level quality of Internet research. The Duplicate Number® Search, the main core of Sigma Validation's business and the platform off which this new technique was modeled, was developed over 20 years ago for General Foods (now part of Kraft Foods). This program is now used as a standard validation technique by many consumer product manufacturers, research suppliers and data collection agencies. Why validate Internet research? Many of Sigma Validation's clients are regular users of Internet research. However, they have expressed some concern about this medium of data collection, since there is currently no third-party audit of the respondent data on which they are basing their multi-million/billion dollar decisions. The Duplicate Email Search will give consumer product companies more confidence in the Internet research they are receiving, by helping to verify that their research specifications are being adhered to. In addition, this technique will confirm that they are not speaking with the same respondents over and over again across all of their studies. We know that the introduction of this new technique will increase our clients' confidence in their Internet research, which will lead to more Internet research being conducted throughout the industry. How does it work? The Duplicate Email Search is a computerized validation program that is based on the matching of email addresses. An exception report is generated that displays the earlier jobs in which respondents participated and used this same email address. For each match found in the Duplicate Email database, the report shows the username (without the domain address); interview date, category (snack, candy, household product, medical service, etc.); supplier ID, panel company ID, respondent ID, age group, address (first 8 characters only), gender, and respondent name. How to Participate In the Duplicate Email Search You can have your consumer research study validated through the Duplicate Email Search by simply forwarding a completed copy of the Sigma Validation Transmittal form along with your electronic data file. At a minimum, the file should include the respondent's full email address and interview date. Other information which is important, but not required, includes category (snack, candy, household product, medical service, etc.), respondent ID, age group, address, gender, and respondent name. If you have the respondent phone number, you can also run your study through the Duplicate Number® Search, to check past-participation in traditional research. How long does it take? The Duplicate Email Report can be processed and generated as "quick as a wink." ;-)
